Ethical Trading Policy

SPECIFIC STATEMENT REGARDING XINJIANG:

At Civvystreet we pride ourselves on the quality of our product proposition. We scour the globe to find the best partners to manufacture our products and demand the highest standards in quality and ethical production (see below for our full ethical trading policy). Our apparel requires a specific, high quality of performance fibre and material to produce active wear that meet our requirements. This can only be sourced from a limited number of locations in China, US and Egypt. 20% of the world’s cotton supply is produced in China and within that over 60% of the world’s long staple cotton supply is grown in Xinjiang.

We have 100% assurances from our suppliers that forced labour is not being used within our cotton supply chain. However, to ensure that we distance ourselves completely from the abhorrent practices that have come to light in this area we have already taken steps to move all of our cotton raw material sourcing away from the Xinjiang region and all our future cotton requirements will be sourced from elsewhere.

Civvystreet expects all products to be manufactured in conditions that are not detrimental to the goods, or harmful to those people working with the products.

Although not a member of the ETI, Civvystreet ethical policy is based on the base code of the ETI to ensure fair working conditions and practices for all those involved in the supply of our products. Detailed below is the Civvystreet Ethical Trading Policy.

Civvystreet will develop a programme to work towards the continuous improvement of the environmental policy by developing management systems to reduce the impact of its activities on the environment. Below is the outline of the environmental code of practice that is currently being developed by Charles Tyrwhitt.

  2. The end use of all products, and the product lifestyle will be considered when confirming product orders. This will include components used in the manufacture of the products, and the manufacturing processes used for components along with final product manufacture.
  3. The environmental effect of packaging used in product manufacture, storage and transport will be considered when agreeing specifications and delivery methods.
  4. Product disposal in terms of damaged, returned, stock and samples will be conducted along environmentally approved methods.
  5. Where possible, other waste disposal will be conducted along environmentally approved principles.
